For the last breakfast Enoch serves scrambled eggs with bacon, tomatoes, beans and saucages. After that fantastic breakfast we burn ourselves on to the flash card of my camera and we leave towards Maun. The Safari has found its end.
On the road to Maun, outside of Moremi, we spot again a leopard, the sixth one. According to Sammie we have been very lucky seeing six leopards. This one carries a GPS sender and moving slowly on the road. Again the cameras are pulled out of the bags and dozens of picture are being made. After this photo session we continue our ride. The street is dusty but good. At the airport we say good by to Sammie and our co-travelers. Our flight carries into the Okavango delta starts with 5 passengers on board at 13.10.
The flight lasts for about 30 minutes and discloses absolutely amazing views of the delta. The delta is crossed all over by channels which are created by hippos. Our pilot tells us that they are also called the architects of the delta. Although I have to shoot through the window I am shooting more than 100 pictures.
We hit the runway of the Shinde Camp on time. Winnie and Rean are welcoming us. The camp is pure luxury. Though friendly the atmosphere seems to me a bit stiff.
In the afternoon we start on a game drive which is leading us to a dead elephant. This giant died several days ago and is now host of a pack of male lions which are feeding from him. The deay sends out a smell which is almost not bearable. The lions idling around have full stomach and can barely walk. The only motion they are capable of is lifting the head upon our arrival. Apart from that the wildlife is not as spectacular as we had on our safari.
At the next day we are sliding in Mokoros through reed and papyrus. I do not dare to move in the Mokoro fearing that the Mokoro overturns. Apart from birds not much wildlife can be seen but we are compensated by the beautiful landscape and the absolute silence surrounding us. In the afternoon we visit again the elephant but the reek is driving us away very fast. The highlight of this game drive is a break down of our car. Our guide Trust repairs the car by filling all our spare water into the cooler and the battery.
